On Friday 23 – Sunday 25 Feb 2018, Synch hosted the Global Legal Hackathon in Stockholm, Sweden.
The participants formed 3 teams, and each team designed a development project to work on during the weekend. All concepts were creative and relevant. Some of the projects utilized AI or were blockchain-based.
The event was concluded with the presentations to the judging panel which included:
- Anna Forsebäck, Data Protection Officer / Legal Counsel at Bankgirot
- Fredrik Svärd, the founder of LegalTech.Se, ELTA:s ambassador in Sweden
- Peter Wahlgren, IT law professor at Stockholm University
WINNER: Team 1 – LawLess – AI-powered language-agnostic app for fast and reliable legal advice
Team 2 – KnowLedger – Blockchain-based e-learning and tutoring app, which is also a community-maintained knowledge database with a gamification aspect
Team 3 – doineedadpo.com – A web-platform for automated assessment of whether an organization needs to appoint a data protection officer
The teams were working very hard and demonstrated immense creativity and problem-solving skills. The presentation of LawLess, the winning team, has been submitted to the global round of the hackathon. Although the winner was selected, the overall feeling was that everyone deserved the chance to proceed to the global level of the competition.
We at Synch are proud to support the legal innovation movement by hosting the Global Legal Hackathon, for the first time in the Nordics.
